DATE NUT BREAD ROUNDS 
1/2 lb. pitted dates, cut up
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp. salt

Combine dates and soda, pour boiling water over them. Set aside and cool.

Cream together butter and sugar; beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift flour twice and add salt. Add to creamed ingredients alternately with cooled dates and water. Stir in nuts. Butter 6 (#303) cans.

Line bottoms with waxed paper circles cut to fit. Fill half full. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. After cool, wrap in foil for freezing, if desired.
