FRIED GREEN TOMATOES 
1 lb. green tomatoes
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. cornmeal
1 tsp. sugar
1 c. cooking oil
Salt & pepper to taste

Cut tomatoes into 1/4 inch slices and dip in beaten egg. Mix flour and cornmeal, sugar dip tomatoes in mixture and drop in hot oil in heavy skillet until brown on each side. Salt and pepper to taste.
