DATE OATMEAL LOAF 
3/4 c. uncooked oats
1 1/4 c. hot milk
1 c. chopped dates
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. light or dark corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter, melted
2 c. sifted self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

Combine oats, milk and dates in bowl. Let stand 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of 9x5x3 inch loaf pan; set aside. Add egg, sugar, corn syrup and butter and milk mixture; blend well.

Combine flour, cinnamon, and salt in large bowl. Add milk mixture; stir just until blended. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 50-55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Gently loosen sides of loaf. Turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.
