GOOD BASIC BISCUITS | |
4 c. flour 2 tbsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 2 c. buttermilk Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening, then add buttermilk and mix well. Turn out onto floured surface. Knead ONLY until you are able to handle the dough enough to roll or pat out. Cut biscuits with floured cutter and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 degrees until brown. The more you handle the dough, the tougher the biscuit. This recipe can be halved for a smaller family. |
