SWEET PICKLES 
1 c. salt
1 gal. water
4 tbsp. alum
1 gal. water
1 qt. vinegar
2 qts. sugar
Pickling spice

Wash cucumbers and soak in salt and water for 4 days and nights. Remove and rinse. Soak in water and alum for 4 days and nights. Rinse and put in jars.

Mix vinegar and sugar. Bring to a boil. Pour over pickles and put in spices and seal.
