Right on about the timing. In the future, I would use toothpicks to secure the bacon. Also, beware that the bacon will sizzle and get your broiler element a little smokey. Also needs a little salt if you use unsalted butter.

Anyone have tips on making these types of steaks in an oven? Figuring 350°F, and I was going to wrap in tin foil, any idea on timing?

To Woody, all the recipes I've read say to put the oven at at least 375 to 400 degrees, and bake for 10-12 minutes for medium rare, and just increase the time if you want it more done. Going to make it today, will see how it works. :)

We fixed this exactly as the recipe says to and it turned out great! We found that 8 min. per side was rare and 10 min. per side was med. rare. It is wonderful and we will keep it for future use.

I made this tonight, I used garlic and minced onion in the butter mixture instead and approx 12-14 min per side for med rare on a gas broiler. I used the toothpicks to hold the bacon in place. SO AMAZINGLY GOOD!!!! My husband ate his with bernaise sauce over it and I without. He ate every bite. Goes great with scalloped potatoes and cucumber and tomatoe app with italian. Happy cooking. yum nom nom

Woody - the broiler is in the oven. It is the heating element at the top of your oven. It should have a knob or button to push to turn it on.
