CONFETTI PEAR JAM 
4 lg. ripe pears (1 1/2 lbs.)
1 orange
1 sm. can crushed pineapple
12 maraschino cherries
5 c. sugar
2 1/2 oz. powdered fruit pectin

Peel and core pears, grind pears with a seeded whole orange or chopped very fine. Add the crushed pineapple. Chop cherries fine. There should be 1/4 cup. Combine fruit and measure 4 1/2 cups into a very large pan. Measure sugar and set aside. Add the powdered pectin to fruit and mix well. Place over high heat and stir until mixture comes to a hard boil. At once stir in sugar, bring to a full rolling boil and boil hard for 1 minute, stirring constantly.. Remove from heat and skim off foam. Stir and skim for 5 minutes. Ladle into half pint jars and seal. Makes about 8 half pints.
