BARBECUED BEEF FILLING 
4 1/2 lb. boneless beef
3 tbsp. melted shortening
3 c. water
1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
1 c. tomato sauce
1 c. ketchup
4 c. chopped onions, cooked tender in melted shortening
1 1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)
1/4 tsp. pepper

Cut beef in 4 inch pieces; brown well in shortening. Add to 3 cups water and simmer until tender, about 2 hours. Remove beef from cooking liquid and put through coarse blade of food chopper.

Combine beef with remaining ingredients. Add enough of the cooking liquid to make filling moist but spreadable (about 2 cups).

Heat filling and serve between hamburger buns.
