BARBECUE SAUCE | |
1/4 c. vinegar 1/2 c. water 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. prepared mustard 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 thick slice lemon 1 sliced onion 1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. ketchup 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce In saucepan, mix vinegar, water, sugar, mustard, pepper, salt, lemon, onion, and butter. Simmer 20 minutes, uncovered. Add ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil. Serve hot over spareribs, broiled chicken, shortribs, lamb chops, etc. or baste the above when broiling, braising, or roasting. Makes about 1 3/4 cups of sauce. Leftover sauce can be kept in refrigerator for several weeks. Delicious, sour-sweet, tangy. |
