1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. hot water
1 sm. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugars; add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add flour and salt, combine water and soda and add to mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and mix well. Drop onto cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
