OLD-FASHIONED POUND CAKE 
2 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
8 eggs
3 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour and salt, stirring well; add to creamed mixture. Stir in vanilla and almond flavorings. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from pan, cool on rack. If you want a moist cake, cover during the cooling time.
