OLD FASHIONED KENTUCKY POUND
CAKE
 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
5 lg. eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. lemon flavoring

Cream butter and Crisco until light and fluffy. Add sugar; cream together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one. Add baking powder and salt to measured flour, then sift twice. Add milk and flour alternately. Add flavorings.

Bake in a tube pan one hour and 15-20 minutes (at 325 degrees) or bake until cake tests done when touched on top.

This cake freezes well.
