LASAGNA 
1 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tbsp. hot oil
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
Salt and pepper to taste
3/4 tsp. chili powder
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
2 1/4 c. water
1 1/2 c. Ricotta or sm. curd cottage cheese
1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
1/2 (16 oz.) pkg. lasagna noodles

Saute onion and garlic in oil until tender. Add beef and seasonings and cook until brown. Add tomato paste and water, mixing well. Simmer uncovered 5 minutes.

Cook noodles according to package and drain. Spoon 1/3 of sauce into a 13 1/2 x 8 1/2 x 1 3/4 inch baking dish. Add half of noodles and 1/2 of Ricotta. Repeat layers and spoon on remaining sauce. Arrange Mozzarella cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. 8-12 servings.
