PEACH CRISP 
3 to 4 c. sliced fresh peaches
1/4 c. butter
1 3/4 c. sugar (divided)
1 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. boiling water

Place peach slices in greased 9 x 13 casserole dish. Cream butter and 3/4 cup sugar. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry mixture to creamed mixture alternately with 1/2 cup milk. Spoon this mixture over fruit. Combine cornstarch, nutmeg and 1 cup sugar and sprinkle over batter. Pour 1 cup boiling water over top. Bake in a 350 degree oven one hour. Serve warm, plain or with ice cream or whipped topping.
