4 slices top round steak, 1/4 inch thick Adolph's Tenderizer Salt and pepper 1 lg. onion 4 to 6 slices bacon Take fat off steak; cut slices in half. Sprinkle Adolph's on both sides. Add salt and pepper. Chop 1 large onion and bacon. Sprinkle bacon and onion over slices of meat. Roll up tight. Fasten with 2 toothpicks. Drench in flour. Render bacon (3 slices, diced); add 1 tablespoon butter. Put meat in it and brown on both sides. Add little flour, enough for gravy (add butter, if not sufficient fat); fill up with hot water to consistency of gravy. Add salt and pepper to taste, gravy to color. Add 1/2 to 1 pound fresh mushrooms (sliced or diced). Stir several times, then let simmer for 1 1/2 hours on small flame. Stir once in awhile. |
