HEARTY PEA SOUP 
1 onion, diced
2 tbsp. oil
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. celery seed
1 c. green split peas
1/4 c. barley
1/2 c. lima beans
10 c. water
2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp. caraway seed
1 carrot, grated
3 stalks celery, diced
1/2 c. parsley
1 potato, diced

Saute onion, bay leaf and celery seed in oil. Add to rest of ingredients. Cook over low heat or use a crock pot until done, 4 hours.
