CHEWY COOKIES 
1 c. softened butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. peanut butter or semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in peanut butter or chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 9 minutes. (Do not over bake; cookies will be soft. They will puff while baking and flatten while cooling.) Cool slightly remove from cookie sheet onto wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 4 1/2 ounces.
