1 c. milk 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. oil 1 c. cold water 1 yeast cake 1 c. lukewarm water 6 c. flour FILLINGS: 1 lb. sausage, cut up and fried 1 lb. ground meat, browned Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, grated cheese, salsa sauce and green pepper; chopped Deep fat frying oil Scald milk. Remove from heat. Add sugar, salt and oil. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add cold water. Cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Add to milk mixture. Gradually work in flour, mixing to a smooth dough. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead for 10 minutes or until smooth and satiny. Shape dough into ball. Place in greased bowl, cover; let raise for 1 hour or double in bulk. Punch down and roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into approximately 4 x 4 inch pieces. Preheat oil for frying. Drop 4 x 4 inch dough into hot oil one piece at a time. It will rise to top and puff up. Turn over when golden brown and brown other side. Remove from oil and slice 1 side open and fill with fillings to suit taste. Extra dough can be fried up in small pieces and shaken in a bag with sugar and cinnamon. |
