2 1/2 c sugar
1 c shortening (Crisco) or 1 c butter
2 eggs
2 tsp baking soda dissolved in buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
dash of nutmeg
4 c flour

Mix all ingredients together. Roll and cut with various shaped cookie cutters.

Bake at 350°F for 5 to 10 minutes.
