BANANA CAKE 
2 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. mashed bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
Whipped cream or Cool Whip for frosting
4 or 5 bananas

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together shortening and sugar, add eggs, mashed bananas and vanilla. Mix soda into flour and add alternately with milk. Pour into 2 greased round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees until top springs back when touched.

Let cool completely, fill and frost with whipped cream (or Cool Whip) and a layer of banana slices. This cake must be refrigerated.
