1 c. sugar
1 c. syrup
1 c. Wesson oil
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
Pinch of salt
2 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
1/8 c. water for soda
2 tsp. baking soda

Mix together sugar, syrup, oil, and seasonings. Dissolve 2 teaspoons soda in 1/8 cup water and add to the mixture. Add sifted flour and mix well. Last, add 1 cup of boiling water. Mix and pour into greased pan. Bake at 400 degrees until done.
