SWEDISH TORTA 
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
4 eggs, separated
1 c. flour
1 sm. pkg. frozen strawberries
1 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts, finely chopped
1/2 pt. heavy cream

Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar; add milk, beaten egg yolks, flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Put in 2 round cake pans, lined with wax paper. Beat egg whites and fold in 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Put meringue on top of each layer and sprinkle with nuts. Bake in 300 degree oven for 1/2 hour. Cool. Whip heavy cream; add 1 teaspoon vanilla and drained strawberries. Spread this between layers. One layer (bottom) has meringue down, the other up (top layer). Put in refrigerator overnight.
