WALLA WALLA SWEET RELISH SALAD | |
2 walla walla sweet onions, sliced 6 lg. ripe tomatoes 1 green pepper, cut into strips 3/4 c. cider vinegar 1/4 c. water 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed 1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. coarse grind pepper Skin and cut onions into 1/4" slices, separate into rings. Peel tomatoes, cut into quarters. Slice green pepper lengthwise into strips. Place all in shallow bowl. In a saucepan, mix together vinegar, water and seasonings. Bring to boiling and boil hard 1 minute only. Pour, while hot, over vegetables. Chill. Serve as relish and salad combined. Mixture will keep in refrigerator several days. Sauce may be used again. |
