MARY ELLEN'S CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES
 
2/3 c. butter, slightly melted
2/3 c. Crisco, butter-flavored
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 rounded (close to 4) c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts, not necessary, but good

Cream butter and Crisco together. Beat in sugars and slightly beaten eggs. Add vanilla. Sift flour, soda and salt together; blend with mixture. Dough will be stiff. Flatten individual cookies (the bigger, the better) onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or so. Cool on brown paper grocery bags.
