STUFFED DATE BUTTER COOKIES
1/4 c. butter
1 lb. soft pitted dates
1/2 c. dairy sour cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
48 walnut halves
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg

Stuff each date with a walnut half. Press to hold shape. Cream the butter and sugar, beat in the egg, sour cream and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder and soda. Add the stuffed dates. Use a teaspoon to dip out a batter around date.

Place on a ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 400 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. When cool, frost with Golden Butter Frosting.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted powdered sugar
Hot water

Heat and boil butter in a heavy saucepan until lightly brown, about 6 minutes. DO NOT BURN. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Add hot water until frosting is of spreading consistency. If it begins to spread unevenly, add a bit more hot water. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
