GUESS'S BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter, softened (do not substitute)
2 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
1 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter, gradually add sugar at medium speed until well blended. Add eggs one at a time, beat after each addition.

Combine flour, soda and salt - add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in the flavoring. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on a rack.
