CARAMELIZED BREAD PUDDING 
3/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. milk
4 beaten eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. dry bread cubes (about 4 slices)
1/3 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla

In a 10" skillet heat sugar over low heat without stirring until it begins to melt. After sugar starts to melt, stir constantly for 3 to 5 minutes until light brown. Gradually stir in milk. Heat and stir until sugar is re-melted. Remove from heat. Gradually stir hot milk mixture into eggs, stir in vanilla and salt. Place bread cubes in ungreased 8" x 1 1/2" baking dish. Pour egg mixture over all, sprinkle pecans on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until tester inserted near center comes out clean.
