WHITE SPONGE CAKE 
12 egg whites, beaten until stiff
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder

Beat the first 4 ingredients until stiff and little by little add 1/2 cup sugar. Then sift 1 cup flour, 3/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Then add this little by little to the beaten egg whites, by hand. Bake in low oven (200 degrees) for an hour. Unmold.
