Whole Wheat Cheese Scones

These scones were awesome. I added bacon and onion. I wrapped them individually and froze them for lunches ... they froze well. Skies the limit with flavours, this will be my base scone recipe from now on. Would use for catering or entertaining also.

These are great! They are easy and quick to make. They rise nicely and are moist and tasty. I have made them twice and would make them again.

Made these as an alternate to my usual cheese scone recipe as I'd run out of all purpose flour. They taste differently to those but are good nevertheless. Very easy to make and healthier. Apart from the flour difference, my other recipe uses a stick of butter and a cup of sour cream. This just uses two Tbs butter although it required more cheese. I also added onion flakes. Doesn't state in the recipe but when I used an ice cream scoop it made exactly 12 and I baked at 375°F convection for 15 minutes.

Worked for me. Maybe could be called a cross between baking powder biscuits and scones. I did add 1/3 teaspoon of onion powder and 1/3 teaspoon of garlic powder cause seemed a nice match to the cheddar. All good! Thanks for this recipe that I will use again.
