PERFECT CORN BREAD 
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. cornmeal
1 c. sweet milk
1/4 c. soft shortening
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs

Put in bowl and beat with mixer until just smooth, about 1 minute. Do not over beat. Pour into a 9x9x2 inch pan or 9-inch skillet. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven, 20 to 25 minutes. Can use for corn bread sticks. Bake these 12 to 15 minutes.
