LEMON SQUARES
1 c. flour
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/4 c. confectioners' sugar
2 eggs
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. lemon juice

ICING:

3/4 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. melted butter
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix thoroughly flour, soft butter and confectioners' sugar. Press in ungreased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan, building up sides 1/2 inch. Bake 20 minutes. Beat remaining ingredients about 3 minutes or until light and fluffy. Pour over hot crust. Bake 25 minutes longer or just until no imprint remains when touched lightly in center.

Cool thoroughly. For icing combine confectioners' sugar, melted butter and lemon juice in small bowl. Icing will be thin. Pour over cooled lemon squares, let icing set before cutting. You can omit icing and dust with confectioners' sugar if preferred.
