1/8 stick butter
1 egg
3 tbsp. sugar
1 heaping c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder

Mix first 3 ingredients together; add rest of ingredients. Mix - it will be stiff. Pour into greased 8 or 9 inch round or square pan. Sprinkle top with sugar, cinnamon, and mace or allspice. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

This was my grandmother's recipe and it makes a delicious coffee cake from ingredients you always have on hand. Easy to whip together for unexpected guests or for breakfast. Serve that day, warm or room temperature.
