GREEK STEW 
2 lbs. stew meat
3 tbsp. oil

Brown in hot oil in heavy saucepan.

Mix next 7 ingredients, heat to boiling point and pour over meat.

2 c. water
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
3 tbsp. wine vinegar
2 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. instant minced garlic

Add 2 cinnamon sticks, each 2 inches long. Stick 8 whole cloves into 1 small white onion and add to meat. Cover and simmer until meat is almost tender (about 1 1/2 hours).

Peel 2 pounds small white onions and add to stew. Continue cooking 30 to 40 minutes. Remove cinnamon and onion with cloves before serving.
