ITALIAN STUFFED BREAD | |
2 loaves frozen bread dough 1/2 lb. salami, sliced 1/2 lb. provolone cheese, sliced 2 or 3 med. tomatoes, thinly sliced 1/2 lb. Cappicola, sliced 1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced 1 green pepper, thinly sliced 1 lg. onion, thinly sliced (found in Italian deli meat counters) Thaw bread dough as directed on package. Saute green pepper and onion in 2 tablespoons butter. Combine both thawed loaves into ball. Roll out dough 1/4-inch thick to form a 12 x 18-inch rectangle. Cover dough with layer of salami; then layer with Provolone, tomatoes, Cappicola, Mozzarella, green pepper, and onion. Bring edges together lengthwise and pinch together. Secure with toothpicks if necessary. Place on large cookie sheet. Bake for 40-45 minutes in 350 degree oven. Makes 1 (18-inch) loaf. |
