BURNT SUGAR CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. water or milk
2 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. cake flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Burn 1 1/2 cups sugar in skillet until liquified, add 1/2 cup water or milk and stir until it forms a syrup. Then cool (but don't let it get too cold). Cream Crisco, add sugar with 1/2 cup water and 2 eggs. Add 2 cups cake flour. Beat (not stir) 5 minutes by the clock.

Then add 1/2 cup flour with 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon vanilla and add enough burnt sugar liquid to make desired amber color. Bake until done.
