AUNT EVA'S RAISIN BARS 
1 c. raisins
2 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. nuts
1 egg (beaten & set aside)

TOPPING:

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. milk
Powdered sugar

Boil raisins in the 2 cups water, add 1/2 cup butter and cool. Sift 1 cup sugar, flour, salt, soda, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add the sifted ingredients as well as the nuts to raisin mixture, then add the one beaten egg.

Spread in pan size of regular cake pan, 9"x13". Bake 20 minutes or more in 350 degree oven.

TOPPING: Boil brown sugar and butter for 2 minutes. Add the milk and boil a little longer. Remove from heat and cool, then thicken with powdered sugar to spreading consistency.
