“PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES WITH CHOCOLATE TOPPING” IS IN:

PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES WITH
CHOCOLATE TOPPING
 
A Crispy Cookie.

1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. milk

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream together shortening, peanut butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt and add to peanut butter mixture, alternately with milk.

Turn dough onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth. Roll 1/4-inch thick. Cut with 2-inch cookie cutter. Place cookies on baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Cool.

CHOCOLATE TOPPING:

1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Melt chocolate pieces over hot water and cool slightly. Spread chocolate on cooled baked cookies.

Makes 3 dozen cookies.
