CRESCENT ROLLS | |
1 pkg. yeast 3 tbsp. warm water 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 1 c. boiling water 2 eggs 1/2 c. sugar 4 c. plain flour, about 2 lbs. Soft butter Dissolve yeast in warm water, set aside. Place shortening and salt in boiling water until dissolved. Let stand until lukewarm. Beat eggs, mix in sugar. Add water mixture to eggs, then add yeast. Stir in 2 cups flour; beat well. Add remaining flour gradually. Place in bowl and cover. Refrigerate overnight. Roll out dough in 2 rounds - 1/4 inch thick, 3 hours or more before serving. Spread with soft butter. Cut in pie-shaped wedges, roll, starting at wide end. Let rise 3 hours on greased cookie sheet. Bake 6 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees. |
