1/2 c. butter, softened 1/2 c. vegetable shortening 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. boiling water 2 pkg. dry yeast 2 eggs beaten 1 c. cold water 6 c. all purpose flour, unsifted Dissolve butter, shortening, sugar and salt in boiling water. Cool. Dissolve yeast in cooled mixture. Add eggs, cold water and flour. Stir just to mix and place in refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight. Three hours before use, divide dough into 3 parts. Roll each part into a circle but do not knead. Cut each circle into 12 segments as for a pie. Starting at wide end, roll each segment and place tip down on ungreased baking sheet far enough apart so that they will not touch during rising or baking. Let rise in warm place for 3 hours. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. |
