CHILDREN'S GUMDROP FRUITCAKE 
1 1/2 lb. red and green gumdrops
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
3 c. golden raisins
1 1/2 c. applesauce

Cut gumdrops in small pieces. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Sprinkle 1 cup dry ingredients over gumdrops, raisins, and nuts. Add remaining dry ingredients alternately with applesauce to ingredients applesauce to creamed mixture; mix well.

Stir in gumdrops, raisins, and nuts. Pour into ungreased tube pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 1 3/4 hours or until done. Cool thoroughly.

Remove from pan and wrap in foil. Let age at least 1 week before slicing.
