CHRISTMAS GUMDROP CAKE 
2 lbs. gumdrops, cut into sm. pieces (don't use black ones)
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 c. nuts
1 tsp. cloves
1 lb. white raisins
1 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in 1 tsp. hot water)
4 c. flour

Cream sugar and butter. add eggs. Sift all dry ingredients together. Sprinkle a little of the flour over nuts, gumdrops, and raisins. Add flour alternately with applesauce; mix in nuts, gumdrops and raisins. Add soda and water last.

Bake in tube pan or 2 loaf pans about 2 hours at 325 degrees. Ice.
