WAIKIKI MEATBALLS 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
2/3 c. crumbs (bread or crackers)
1/3 c. minced onion
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 c. milk
1/3 c. chopped green pepper
1 tsp. shortening
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. brown sugar
13 1/2 oz. can pineapple bits (reserve syrup)
1/3 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. soya sauce

Mix first 7 ingredients well. Shape into balls and brown in skillet. Cook meatballs, then remove from skillet and drain off fat. Mix cornstarch and sugar. Stir in pineapple syrup, vinegar and soya sauce until smooth.

Pour into skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Boil and stir 1 minute. Add meatballs, pineapple tidbits and green pepper. Heat through.
