1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. mashed banana
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix shortening and sugar, add eggs and bananas. Combine flour, salt, soda and baking powder and add to mixture, alternating with the milk. Add dates, nuts and vanilla. Bake 1 hour in 9x13 pan at 350. Frost or serve with whipped cream.
