BANANA BREAD 
2/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
3 tbsp. sour milk (1/4 tsp. vinegar and enough milk to make 3 tbsp.)
1 c. mashed bananas
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. nuts or raisins, if desired

Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy, add eggs, beating well. Sift together all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternating with the milk and bananas. Add nuts or raisins. Pour into greased bread tin (9 x 5 x 2 inch) and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour, or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
