DUTCH APPLE ROLLS 
2 c. all purpose flour
4 tbsp. shortening
4 lg. apples
3/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. water

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in shortening until mixture is like cornmeal. Add enough milk to make dough that can be easily handled. Roll 1/4 inch thick and spread with 1 tablespoon butter. Cover with finely chopped apples. Sprinkle with mixture of 4 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll up like a jelly roll. Cut into 1 1/2 inch crosswise slices. Place in a greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Boil remaining 3/4 cup sugar and water together for 10 minutes. Pour this over apple slcies. Dot with butter. Bake in hot oven (425 degrees) for 45 minutes. Serve with milk or cream. Makes 9 apple rolls.
