ICE BOX SLAW 
1 lg. head cabbage, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
3/4 c. vinegar
1/2 c. oil
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. powdered mustard
1 tsp. celery seed

Boil vinegar, oil, sugar, mustard, celery seed; cool and pour over vegetables. Refrigerate at least overnight. The longer it is refrigerated, the better it gets.

At Christmas substitute red bell pepper for carrots for color.
