1 c. shortening 1 c. butter 2 c. brown sugar 1 c. buttermilk 1 c. sugar 1 egg Enough flour to make a stiff dough 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg 2 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda Pinch of salt Mix together all ingredients. Chill dough overnight and work over the next day until soft. Roll small amounts of dough at a time, rolling into a snake shape. Make approximately the size of your forefinger in width. Cut into bite-size pieces. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees until bottoms are golden brown. |
