DOUBLE FUDGE SAUCEPAN BROWNIES
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. water
1 (12 oz.) pkg. Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 2 c.)
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Combine sugar, butter and water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a full boil. Remove from heat; immediately add 1 cup of the Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips and stir until melted. Add eggs and vanilla; stir until blended.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to chocolate mixture. Stir in remaining 1 cup chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Pour into a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake at 325°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely; cut into bars.

Makes about 1 1/2 dozen.

Double Fudge Saucepan Brownies

 Meg (Ohio) says:
This has been my favorite Brownie recipe for years, I just couldn't find it. I always double it or they won't last a day at my house. I use closer to a heaping cup flour for the doubled recipe instead of a cup and a third, bake them in a 9 x 13 pan for just the minimum 25 min and they come or really chewy, gooey. For a change I sometimes use peanut butter or butterscotch chips for all or part of the second bag that gets stirred in at the end, but always chocolate for the melted ones. Try chocolove brand chips, they're amazing.
