APPLE DUMPLINGS 
6 baking apples, peeled & cored
6 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. chopped nuts (optional)
Any 9" double crust pie pastry

Roll pastry to 18 x 12 inch rectangle. Cut into 6 (6 inch) squares. Place apples on pastry squares.

In small bowl, combine white sugar, nuts, cinnamon and nutmeg. Put 1 tablespoon of mixture into cavity of each apple.

Moisten edges of pastry. Bring up corners of pastry to top of apple, pinch edges together. Place dumplings in ungreased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

In small saucepan, heat brown sugar, water and butter, to boiling. Pour over dumplings. Bake at 425 degrees for 30-40 minutes until apples are tender.
