APPLE DUMPLINGS | |
Peel, core and slice good cooking apples set aside. Use a regular pie pastry recipe. Make some big walnut size clumps, roll our and place a pile of the sliced apples in the center of pastry. Dot with butter and put 1 teaspoon of sugar and nutmeg mixture. Fold corners of pastry up over pile of apples and form a dumpling. Place each dumpling in a baking dish. 2 c. water 1 c. sugar 1 stick butter 1 tsp. cinnamon Boil for 8 minutes. Pour over dumplings. Bake in modern oven at 350 degrees until apples are tender and crust is brown. Note: if cooked apples are used cook until crust is brown. |
